William Barber was known to the family for a long time.  He was listed together with Henry Green in the 1871 census.   They were lodging and working on the same farm in Foulness, Essex.  Henry Green was a nephew of Hannah Hemstead.  (See census detail under Henry Green).

 

In 1891, William and Hannah Barber were living in the Old Workhouse Yard in Foulness Island, Essex.  William Barber was a Farm Labourer.
