17.           JAMES GREEN was born ca. 1847 in Creeksea, Essex.  In the 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses James Green is described as born in Maldon, Essex.

In 1851, James Green, age 4, was living with his parents in 3 The Barracks in Creeksea, Essex.

James’ father, William Green, died in the 1850’s and his mother remarried with Francis Barnham.

By the early 1860’s James Green was on his own as a Farm Labourer.

 

In 1861, James Green was a lodger at the White House Farm in Mundon, Essex.  John Wilson was the Bailiff of the 200 acres farm.  James Green was an Agricultural Laborer.

Note that the next two men listed after James Green is William Punt age 18 born in Essex Wickford and William Wright age 18 born in Canewdon, Essex.

James Green was most likely a friend and associated with them since they were lodgers and worked the same farm in Foulness in 1871.

William Punt is the person who married George Pickingill’s daughter Martha Ann Pickingill three years later in 1874.

And it probably was William Wright who was born in Canewdon that brought William Punt to Canewdon where he later met Martha Ann Pickingill.

This was still when James Green’s grandmother, Fanny Bird, was still living.

 

James Green married ELLEN HAMMOND in 1876.
