John Wallworth ( ? - 1820 )

34.          JOHN WALLWORTH (of Thomas6 , of Thomas5 , of John4 , of Thomas3 , of Thomas2 , of Thomas1 )  John Wallworth’s baptism wasn’t found.

Father:     Thomas Wallworth   (No.26)

Mother:     Esther Pickering

John Wallworth married ELLEN STILFOX on February 9, 1771 at Great Budworth church, Cheshire.

They were described in the marriage entry as both being of the Parish of Great Budworth.  John Wallworth signs the register and she leaves her mark.  Witnesses were Joseph Wallworth and Ralph Wilkinson.

John and Ellen were living in Dutton, Great Budworth Parish.

Sometime between 1771 and 1803, John and Ellen Wallworth left Dutton and moved to Haslington, Cheshire.  1771 was when their son William was born in Dutton and 1803 was when their daughter Elizabeth was married and in the record it is stated that she was of Haslington.

John was mentioned in the Will of his brother William Wallworth of the town of Barthomley.  The will was dated April 30, 1816 and in the will William gave to John Wallworth.  Also John was one of the executors appointed.

John Wallworth died in Haslington, Cheshire on December 28, 1820.

From his Will, the following are extracted:

"I John Wallworth of the Township of Haslington in the County of Chester Farmer ...."

"I do devise and bequeath to be equally divided among my three children namely Elizabeth Wallworth, Esther Wallworth, & Sarah Wallworth ....."

"I give and bequeath to my Son in law Charles Wallworth & my Daughter Sarah Wallworth all the Residue and Remainder of my Real and personal Property of what kind soever & I do nominate and Apoint my Said Son in law Charles Wallworth & my Daughter Sarah Wallworth as Executors...."

The Will was signed by John Wallworth on June 10, 1820 and probate issued February 28, 1821.  The witnesses were Peter Shingler, John Lowe, and Ellen Lowe.

John Wallworth’s wife, Ellen, probably died earlier since she was not mentioned in the Will.
